Questions to Ask When Hiring an Event Photographer

A professional photographer isn’t just reserved for events like weddings; you can (and should) consider hiring one for any type of event!

Not only will candid moments and memories be captured, but the right photographer can turn something as simple as a business conference into branding material you can use for years to come!

Before getting too far in the process, there are a few things you should mention to our photographer before your next big event! Eric from NTP 2 Photography shares key questions you need to be asking.

Questions to Ask the Photographer (Before You Book)

Who will be photographing the event?

You may have found the photographer on social media, and love their work. However, sometimes a company can have multiple photographers working for them. Make sure the quality of the photography will be up to par, and that you have the right photographer for the job.

Do they have experience photographing this style of event?

Knowing what events your photographer has shot in the past can provide invaluable insight into their capabilities and help you determine if they will be able to deliver quality results. If a potential hire has shot similar events before, they may already understand exactly how to capture certain moments with precision and accuracy.

Additionally, experienced photographers tend to have a better understanding of how to compose their shots. For instance, if they aren't experienced in shooting in darker rooms, the photos can come out looking awful!

What is the turnaround time?

Turnaround time is essentially how long it will take for you to receive the final images from your photographer. This can vary wildly depending on the type of photography involved, the number of photos needing to be edited, and the complexity of each image.

Professional photographers take thousands of pictures during a shoot, even if they only deliver a small percentage of them. This ensures that the final product is always the perfect shot. As you can imagine, sifting through all these photos will take a long time, and the final choices will still have to be edited for maximum quality.

Make sure you discuss turnaround time beforehand, so both you and the photographer know the timeframe that the work will be done.

What the Photographer Needs to Know

Before a shoot, there are a few things to mention to the photographer in order to help them better prepare for the event. Here are a few examples:

  • Is the event indoors or outdoors? We need to plan for the weather and have the proper gear.

  • Are there any moments that the photographer can NOT miss?

  • Is there a tight turnaround time needed to get the final images back?

  • Is there anyone that shouldn't be included in the photos?

Communication is key to getting the outcome you want from your event, so don't hesitate to ask questions and offer up additional info.

New Year, New Branding: Stand Out In 2023 With Updated Branding Photos

It’s a new year and that means it’s time to get ready for a fresh start! Updating your branding photos is one of the best ways to stand out in 2023. Whether it's product shots, headshots, or just want some fun, creative images for social media, it’s important to have high-quality visuals that capture your brand’s message.

Working with a professional photographer will give your company the quality and polish you see from all your favorite big-name brands. But if you already have some, why do you need new ones?

Luckily for you, NTP 2 Photography's Eric Bunch is here to explain why consistently updating your branding is more important than ever!

Your Brand is Growing- Let People See That!

As your business grows, so should your visuals. If your business has evolved this last year, you should let people see how far you’ve come!

It's time for new branding photos if your business:

  • Expanded into a new office or opened a new location

  • Hired new staff members or had team changes

  • Updated the logo, colors, or other branding aspects

  • Offers a new service

  • Updated the menu

New images will not only show potential customers that you are actively growing as a company, but will also show that you are making effort to stay up-to-date in the ever-changing landscape of digital marketing.

Staying Relevant

Here’s the thing about visibility: it can be positive or negative. Those old, grainy photos from your branding session back in 2015 simply won’t cut it anymore. If you come into view regularly and in an engaging way, our audience will positively remember your brand! Plus, the more visuals that are aligned with your brand's style, the easier it becomes for people to recall you and recognize your work.

Our local photographers can help you create contemporary visuals that will grab the attention of potential customers and give them a visual representation of your company that they want to follow.

How Often Should You Update Your Branding? > Find Out!

Keep Your Content Fresh

Social media moves quickly, so it’s important to stay current when it comes to your brand imagery. From advertisements to the simple weekday post on Instagram, if you use the same photos over and over, your content can become stale and unappealing.

Just ask yourself, how do you feel when you see that same old advertisement you've been having pop up all year? The last thing you want potential clients to feel is bored!

NTP 2 Photography's Best Shots of 2022

Photography has the ability to capture moments and share stories like no other art form. As we approach the end of 2022, we want to take a look back at some of my favorite photos I've taken throughout the year!

From stunning portraits to colorful meals, here’s a behind the scenes look at NTP 2 Photography’s top shots from 2022.

As a photographer, I am allowed the opportunity to capture moments and turn into memories that last forever. The Whetsel family has been huge supporters and this image is one that stands out to me and I know will have a special place in their home and heart.

One of my favorite portraits that I captured in 2022. Our clients trust us to take their vision and turn it into reality, and when they trust me to do so then we really get amazing portraits

For me, capturing the rich vibrancy and color in the world, what it is about for me. Food is art to those who prepare it and to capture it looking the best to share with others is really fun.

As a former automotive technician, all industrial and mechanical fields catch my eye. Helping those to capture what they do and show the world is where I get excited about going to work.

This picture needs no words... when a client calls and says "I need you to come out on our brand-new yacht and photograph it near the skyway bridge" you run at the opportunity to do so.

During a session I often say "Ok this is the last one" but when the creativity takes over, I get more and more ideas and keep the session going. I know that makes me a liar but with the results you will forgive me in the end.

Family portraits can take a unique turn during sessions where a special moment is preserved.

Multi-day conferences are quite the logistical challenge, but we love a good challenge.

Branding sessions are something I have offered for many years and over the years I have seen cases of self-esteem issues, but when I have the opportunity to work with a very confident individual it really makes my day.

Last but certainly not least.

One of my favorite professionals that I have met! Knowing that our clients trust us to capture them the way they want is everything to us.

Want to Make Next Year’s List? Call NTP 2 Photography Today!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the views! Next year, get that photoshoot you’ve been dreaming of. Who knows... it might even make the top list!

Whether its professional branding photography, real estate listing photos, or the perfect shots for your restaurant's new menu; NTP 2 Photography can deliver! Thank you for an incredible 2022, and we look forward to the wonderful things ahead in 2023.

Making Your Listing Shine: Preparing Your Property for Photography

If you're looking to sell your property, the quality of the photos taken makes a huge difference to how quickly you can sell your property. Homebuyers determine whether or not they would like to even take a look at a property by the photos posted online. Some will put an offer on the property before even looking at it in person if the photos are impressive enough.

So, how do you ensure your home is photo-ready to impress potential homebuyers? We have a few tricks up our sleeve that we're ready to share!

How to Prepare the Interior for a Photoshoot

First, make sure that all of the rooms are tidy and clutter-free. Stage your furniture with any decor, decorative pillows, and throw blankets. You want the buyer to be able to imagine themselves living in your home.

Here's an interior clean-up checklist:

  • Clean off countertops and hide away dirty dishes

  • Put laundry and laundry baskets away

  • Make all beds look nice and neat (no wrinkles!)

  • Hide any visible garbage cans or laundry baskets

  • Ensure there is no clutter or moving boxes visible

  • Clean mirrors, tubs, showers, and toilets

  • Hide electronics and cords

These tasks are the bare minimum to have done before your shoot. However, we suggest going above and beyond indoors and outdoors.

How to Prepare the Exterior for a Photoshoot

You likely may have not even thought about your exterior, but it is the first impression and introduction to what is inside the home. So, it is very important to get the exterior "dressed to impress."

Outdoor Checklist:

  • Mow the lawn, rake leaves, pull weeds, sweep up walkways and patios

  • Remove any dead plants or replace them if you can afford to

  • Straighten up water hoses and gardening tools

  • Clean up and straighten outdoor furniture

  • Power wash siding, patios, outdoor rugs, windows, etc.

  • Park cars away from the home and driveway

We have plenty of tips and ideas to best stage your home at NTP2 - just give us a call!

During the Photoshoot

Your photoshoot should be done while there is still daylight with the windows open allowing all the natural light to flow in. Ensure all lights are off as artificial lighting tends to skew the colors of the photos. Open your blinds to where you can see the exterior of the home and allow light in.

Unless your realtor requests it, photos will not be taken of storage spaces with your personal belongings inside so feel free to store away any last-minute items the day of your shoot.
